Summer Classes have begun!

Our Summer 2008 Schedule of Classes is now posted and all classes are available for registration. You may click on the “Classes by Date” or by the category on this homepage.

ABSTRACT ART:

THIS CLASS WILL MEET FROM 7:00PM-9:00PM ON THURSDAY, JULY 10 AND FROM 10:00AM-2:00PM ON SATURDAY, JULY 12 IN ROOM 33 ON THE PARKER SCHOOL CAMPUS. $70

Did you ever wonder how to plan and create an abstract painting? Take an adventure into techniques of abstraction in this course. Although in recent years abstraction has also come to mean “non-representational”, this course emphasizes techniques for deriving an abstract design based on the reshaping of the natural world and including recognizable images.

We will begin with images from the world around us and alter them by means of a variety of recognized techniques for composing abstract art. During our first session we will investigate the techniques to be used and begin to plan our paintings. During our second session we will work in the classroom to complete our finished abstract paintings.

Students may work in watercolor or acrylic paint. However, beginning students might find watercolor the easiest.

Experienced artists who wish to work in other media should contact Jane Taylor at artteacher@hawaii.rr.com to discuss possibilities.
