Yoga: The Way to Freedom - October class

Translated from Sanskrit, “yoga” means union. The essence of the practice is the union of our individual soul energy with the universal spirit.

The practice of yoga gives us strength and flexibility of the body, energy and ability to open, integrate, and improve our health. It also helps us to develop awareness – posture by posture and breath by breath – of the condition and potential of our body, not just at an anatomical level but at a feeling one.

In this yoga class, we will primarily focus on freeing up the spirit by learning breathing techniques (pranayama) and developing strength and flexibility by practicing Asana. You will study where your body is open and closed, strong and weak. You will learn how far to go in the stretch and how long to hold safely without injuring your body. Through practice, you will develop more space to be wityh your authentic self in both light and shadow.

Please bring your own yoga props, including a mat, straps or blanket.

This class will meet on an ongoing basis after October if there is a minimum enrollment of six participants.
