Basic Drawing for Beginners
Often, a good artist is hampered by poor drawing skills which is the basis of making good art. This class is designed to get the beginner up and running with improved drawing skills.
Learn to recognize edges, spaces and to use light and shadows to develop mass and three dimensions.
We will also cover contour drawing and using “negative space” to determine shapes. We will also learn a necessary skill called “Sighting” which is used to achieve perspective for correct size relationships.
The fun is putting all this together with new knowledge of materials and drawing styles of cross hatching and shading for a finished drawing.

Beginning & Intermediate Watercolor Painting
This class is offered for both beginning students and those who have had some previous experience with the watercolor medium. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn brand-new art skills, and for those who want to build on their existing watercolor painting abilities, this class will provide that perfect forum.
Watercolors have been my ideal painting medium for 40 years, and I’m eager to share not only color mixing and brushwork techniques, but my methods for obtaining a ‘clean wash’ and graded values, wet-in-wet, and controlled washes as well.
All these and more presented in subject matter ranging from close-up florals to panoramic land- and seascapes. There is a $10 fee for materials; this will cover supplies for at least the first two classes. A materials list will then be provided and we will discuss options for obtaining those materials.
