Clarissa Dunlap

In 1981 I had my first solo exhibition.

In 1995 I concluded my B.A. in Fine Arts at the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil.

My school was full of passionate teachers and renowned artists and I will always be thankful to those who saw my talent and supported my work as a young artist.

In 1997 I moved to the US and started teaching clay and watercolor to K-7th grades.

I’ve had shows in Brazil and in the US.

My work is in private collections and public buildings worldwide.

And now that I live in Hawaii and feel home because I am a tropical plant my art is in blossom again.

Clay is my medium for sculptures.

Charcoal on paper and watercolor or acrylic on canvas are my favorite mediums for drawing and painting.

The theme is figurative and abstract.

My Art is sincere and simple like most native peoples I depict
but strong and unique like nature.

When visiting the Big Island please stop at the Waikoloa Discovery Gallery
located inside the Hilton-Waikoloa-Resort where my art is in display since 2003.
